What is included?

When you apply for a loft insulation grant, the funding usually covers everything needed to make your home more energy efficient. This includes the supply and installation of the insulation itself, carried out by professional installers who ensure it meets the right standards. In some cases, the grant can also cover top ups if you already have some insulation in place but it is below the recommended depth.

Both the Eco4 scheme and the Great British Insulation Scheme are designed to make the process hassle free. Once approved, you will not need to worry about hidden costs or complicated steps. The grant typically covers:

  • An initial home energy assessment to check what is required
  • All materials needed for the insulation
  • Professional fitting and installation
  • Quality checks to ensure everything is done properly

With everything included, you can focus on enjoying the benefits of a warmer, more energy efficient home without the worry of upfront expenses.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility will depend on your circumstances and which scheme is right for you.

  • Eco4 scheme: Designed to support low income households, this scheme provides funding for a range of energy efficiency improvements, including loft insulation. If you receive qualifying benefits or live in a home with a poor energy rating, you may be eligible.
  • Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS): This newer scheme offers help to a wider group of people, even those who do not qualify for Eco4. If your home is in a lower council tax band and has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or below, you could benefit from loft insulation through GBIS.

Both schemes are designed to make insulation more accessible, and many homeowners and tenants are surprised to find that they qualify.

Why apply for a loft insulation grant?

Around a quarter of the heat lost from an uninsulated home escapes through the roof. Adding proper insulation in your loft can make a huge difference to both your comfort and your energy bills.

With loft insulation in place, your home will stay warmer for longer, meaning you rely less on your heating system and save money year after year.

Ready for the next step?

The best way to see if you are eligible is to check your circumstances against the requirements for the Eco4 and GBIS schemes. If you are unsure which one applies to you, we can help guide you through the process.

If you think loft insulation could benefit your home, now is the time to take advantage of the free grants available. Whether through the Eco4 scheme or the Great British Insulation Scheme, there is support in place to make sure you do not have to carry the financial burden.
