What’s Included in the Great British Insulation Scheme?

The Great British Insulation Scheme covers a range of insulation measures to help make your home more energy efficient. Depending on your property type and what’s already in place, you could receive funding for:

  • Loft insulation – Keeps heat from escaping through your roof, one of the biggest sources of heat loss in homes
  • Cavity wall insulation – Fills the gap between your external walls to trap warmth inside
  • Solid wall insulation – For older homes without cavity walls, improving internal insulation
  • Pitched roof insulation – Additional insulation for homes with sloping roofs
  • Flat roof insulation – Helps reduce heat loss in homes with flat or low-pitch roofing
  • Underfloor insulation – Reduces heat loss through the floor, especially in homes with suspended timber floors
Smart heating controls – Allow you to manage your heating more efficiently, saving energy and improving comfort with features like remote control, scheduling, and zoned heating

The work is carried out by accredited installers, and in many cases, it can be fully funded or heavily subsidised depending on your eligibility. Even small upgrades can lead to noticeable reductions in your heating bills..

How do I know if I qualify?

You could be eligible for the Great British Insulation Scheme if your home has low energy efficiency and you’re in a certain council tax band. Unlike some other schemes, the Great British Insulation Scheme is open to a broader range of households, not just those on benefits.

You may qualify if:

  • Your property has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or below
  • You live in a Council Tax band A to D in England or A to E in Scotland and Wales
  • You either own your home or rent from a private landlord with permission
  • In some cases, additional support is available if you’re receiving certain benefits

If you’re not sure about your EPC rating or council tax band, we can help check this for you. We will guide you through a quick and easy assessment to find out if your home is eligible.
